HOw Genesis Started
In April of 2004, our President and Founder, Rev. Donald Tatmon, had the vision to begin a program designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in our community. He envisioned a program where families could be empowered, enriched, and encouraged through various means such as Health Fairs & Seminars, Community Forums, concerts, expos, and Counseling Services.
Genesis' Vision
Thus, on September 17, 2004, the “Genesis Resource Center” was established with the intent to provide physical and psycho-social support to families by offering one-on-one and group counseling classes on topics such as marriage & family, grief & loss, stress & anger management, nutrition, eating disorders, self-esteem, and addictions.
Rev. Tatmon's vision of creating a healthier and more informed community began to grow and develop. He and his team were privileged to serve many individuals and families through the Genesis Resource Center.
Genesis Learning Center
However, after filing for the company's 501(c)(3) status in 2007 and discovering that the name “Genesis Resource Center” had already been taken and filed by another organization, in 2010, the name “Genesis Resource Center” was changed to “Genesis Learning Center.” Thankfully, after waiting for approval from the government regarding the new name, on June 17, 2014, “Genesis Learning Center" was granted 501(c)(3) status.
